With heat advisories being thrown around left and right, we figured wed showcase some pieces that just brought to mind cooler times. Think light woods, open and slatted construction, and glass. And remember during the next couple of days, stay in air-conditioned areas and drink plenty of fluids.

We are well into our summer Before & After series, and the weekly winners have been spectacular! For the past four years weve run this series to help raise support and awareness for Habitat for Humanity (be sure to check out this weeks fun fact), and this year is off to a strong start. If youd like to participate, there are a couple different ways to get involved. We need to fill up the entire summer with before and after stories, and yours could be next. See the link above for details about submitting your project. Wed also greatly appreciate if youd help spread the word. If you have a website of your own, consider telling your readers about us.

Granite is one of the most abundantly found, precious, by product of a volcanic eruptions .It is surely amongst the hardest substances found on earth and is formed after millions of years as a result of very rugged conditions-high pressures and soaring temperatures. But apart from this, another aspect of granite that has made it a designer favorite is its lustrous color and appearance. This is evident from how much granite is being used in kitchen accessories. Thus, selection of suitable colored granite is on the top of the priority list of interior designers and homemakers.
The choice of an appropriate color of granite is a task for designers. What makes selection of granite for the kitchen even more difficult is the fact that granite presents itself in a variety of color options. It ranges from all blues, blacks, greens, and whites to what not. Then there are other color contrast options as well.

As I have said so many times on this blog, it breaks my heart to see so many possibilities for a great historical property fall victim to neglect or new development. It is always refreshing to see the opposite happen. It is especially refreshing to see it happen to an entire town.
This summer I had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time in historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. As I explored lovely Doylestown and the surrounding area, I was pleased to find a very active Historical Society dedicated to preserving the buildings and culture of the town.

Doylestown and the surrounding area are full of history. The quaint old houses that now serve as home base for law firms, investment gurus and real estate agents all feature handsome plaques where their original build dates are inscribed.

I am not a big fan of multi-tools because I feel it is better to use tools specific to each job. However, I found a multi-tool that is very practical for any electrical project. The Rapid Shark is a combination utility knife and wire stripper – it is not only unique looking; it has very unique features most utility knives do not have.
The Rapid Shark by Rapid Tools is the first utility knife with a built in wire stripper, cutter and crimper. It’s like a Swiss Army Knife for electricians. It is available in two sizes. The standard Shark is designed for 10-18 AWG wire and the Big Bite is for 6-12 AWG wires. Even the utility knife blade is unique with a serrated cutting edge. Rapid Tools also designed the Shark with a four-blade storage compartment that is easily accessed without the use of a screw driver. With the push of a button the old blade pulls out and the new slips in.
The Rapid Shark is well worth its cost of $24.99. This tool has saved me a great amount of time in all my projects that involve electrical work. I like the Rapid Shark so much; it has earned a permanent spot in my tool belt. My kids even like it. At least they do when I use it as a shark hand puppet.
