Last week we asked you to identify a photograph in order to be eligible to win this week’s tool giveaway.  A lot of people got it right; the extreme close up is of a dandelion.

We randomly picked one winner out of all those comments and that lucky person is Michael Ford.  Michael thought it was a saffron flower – you’re way off Michael, but you still win the locking pliers. Michael, you’ve got exactly one week to reply to our email message before we pick another winner.

If dandelions are a problem in your yard, try corn gluten. It is natural byproduct of milling corn that acts as an herbicide. Early spring is the time to use corn gluten, before the seeds have sprouted.  If you prefer to manually weed, do so when the dandelions are flowering – that’s when they’re at their weakest.  For weeds creeping up through a walkway, try mixing rock salt with warm water in a spray bottle and squirt the roots.

Next Tuesday, we will be giving away a pound-it-and pry-it prize pack which includes two Bostitch hammers, one 22 oz. and one 28oz. plus a precision claw bar and molding bar.

To enter, post a comment and tell us what this old gadget is and what it is used for? You don’t have to answer correctly to win; we will randomly pick a winner.

On Tuesday, April 19, we will select the winner then start up a new giveaway for another tool, which will be given away the Tuesday after that.

You have until April 19, 2011, 2:00pm to enter to win Bostitch prize pack.
