October 26th, 2010Sliding Into Home Safety
Our homes are the one place we should feel safe, or at least the place we can make safe as possible just by taking a few precautions. For example, an alarm system and or camera system makes many people feel a great deal safer than without. Also some people feel that a dog makes their home feel safer. Some people may believe that a dog is not enough so they resort to stronger measures by adding a fire arm to the family tree. There are people with security lights as well. These lights can be triggered by someone walking in front of them. Do not forget the family with the security gate and wall that surrounds their property, they are definitely protecting their homes from the selfish acts of their outside world.
What about the home itself? People have found many ways to protect the home, the actual structure. There are all kinds of different things people do to their homes to protect it from danger.
Smoke detectors are one way, and make sure to inquire about the ones that dispatch the fire department the second it is set off. Protecting the home from pests is another way. Termites will destroy sections of a home in little time if left untreated. Keeping the roof of the home free of all debris will keep any chances the roof to wear uneven. Most homes these days have gutters as well. Gutters direct the rain water in a direction that is more manageable for the landscaping. To protect the home during severe weather, aluminum storm windows are available. These windows are installed on the outside of the home over the existing windows. During a storm, these windows create a barrier between the outside and the actual window of the home in case of flying debris. There is so many different projects around the home that may require a permit.
