These industrial tables, either salvaged or made to look salvaged, are one of the hottest furniture trends.  They’re selling in several high-end stores – Restoration Hardware’s version costs several hundred dollars.  Instead to spending that kind of dough – make one yourself – it’s a basic woodworking project and the materials don’t have cost a lot.

Look at Popular Woodworking’s plans — they used an old shipping pallet and purchased the wheels from an industrial supply company — easy and cheap.

The best part about an industrial coffee table:  you can put feet up on it or spill drinks all over it – who cares, it will just add to the distressed patina.
